Welcome to my website, I along with some cousins have been tracing our family tree and this website contains the results of our research on our Bowler family line and connected families.

Our earliest direct ‘Bowler ancestor’ we have so far discovered was John Bowler, born about 1729. He married Sarah Radford on 8th August 1755 in Newington parish Oxfordshire. The marriage entry in the parish register indicates John was from ‘Drayton’. It seems likely that this was the neighbouring parish of Drayton St. Leonard but there is no corresponding baptism entry for John in the parish records. John and Sarah had a least 3 children, Frederick (our direct line), Elizabeth and Mary. Sarah died in 1801 and John in 1805 both are buried in Drayton St Leonard churchyard. We have found no other information on John or Sarah but continue to search for clues to their births and parents. If you think you might know something please do get in touch, email contact details can be found at the bottom of this page.

Details of all our research can be accessed from the links below; the ‘Research Page’ is the entry point to the family research. There is a link to information on the origins of the Bowler name and a page of more general family history links; our Bowler family lived in the Oxfordshire Village of Crowell for much of the 19th century and there is a link to information about this tiny village.

We hope that perhaps ‘long lost cousins’ might spot information on this site that links them to us, if you recognise anybody then please do get in touch, email contact details below. If by chance you have information that might add to our research we would also love to hear from you or even if you just have a comment to make on the website!
